George Washington women's water polo heads to VMI on Saturday for a non-conference doubleheader at Clark King Pool in Lexington, Va.
The Colonials (7-6) are set for a matchup with Gannon at 2 p.m. before facing the host Keydets at 6 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT: GW split four games in California last week with wins over Fresno Pacific and Concordia (Calif.) and losses to No. 24 California Baptist and No. 15 Long Beach State.
Freshman Dara Bleiberg paced the Colonials offensively with seven goals and five assists on the annual West Coast trip, while fellow rookie Jaleh Moaddeli tallied a combined nine steals and five field blocks on defense.
LEADERBOARD WATCH: Scarlett Hallahan has 35 points this season via 21 goals and 14 assists, giving her 356 for her career. The senior from California currently sits six back of Rachael Bentley's 362 on the program's all-time points list. She's already the career leader in goals with 232.
HELPING HAND: Bleiberg leads GW with 19 assists this season, a total that already ranks among the program's all-time Top 10 for a freshman. The two-time CWPA Rookie of the Week has also recorded 23 goals to rank second on the squad behind classmate Alana Ponce (24).
SCOUTING GANNON: The Golden Knights are 4-5 on the season, including a 16-10 loss to GW on Feb. 10 at the Bucknell Invitational. In the victory, Ponce tied the Colonials' record for goals in a game with eight. GW's win improved its record in the all-time series to 13-0.
SCOUTING VMI: The Keydets are 9-4 overall with three of the losses to ranked foes. They started MAAC play last weekend by splitting four games.
GW and VMI split a pair of meetings last season with each team winning at home. The Colonials have won seven out of nine matchups in the series overall.
UP NEXT: GW enters Collegiate Water Polo Association play next weekend, facing Bucknell, No. 22 Harvard and host Saint Francis (Pa.).
