
Women’s Soccer Wraps up Regular Season

Colonials fall to Saint Louis, 2-0
SAINT LOUIS – In its final match of the regular season, the George Washington women's soccer team battled Saint Louis, but ultimately fell, 2-0, on Sunday afternoon at Hermann Stadium.
The Colonials finish the regular season ranked seventh in the Atlantic 10 and will travel to VCU to face the Rams for the quarterfinal round of the A-10 Championship on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• 18th Minute – Saint Louis was the first to strike with a goal from Lindsay Sands, her second of the season.
• 48th Minute – The Billikins padded their lead early in the game's second stanza with a goal from leading scorer Hannah Friedrich. Friedrich intercepted a clearance, dribbled the ball into the box, and shot the ball just out of the reach of keeper Anna Tapen.
NOTEWORTHY
• Despite dropping today's match, the Colonials will head to the Atlantic 10 Championship as the seven seed and will travel to VCU to face the second-seeded Rams. GW will make its sixth straight appearance in A-10s and 13th in program history.
• GW also finishes the regular season with a 10-7-1 record and 6-4 mark in conference play. The Buff and Blue have notched double digits in the win column for five consecutive seasons and for the 12th time in program history.
• The Colonials were outshot by their opponent for only the seventh time this season, taking three shots to the Billikens 15. Sofia Pavon accounted for two of those shots while Kelly Amador tallied the third.
• Saint Louis secured the regular season title at the conclusion of today's game, posting a perfect 10-0-0 record in A-10 action.
