Weekend of Events to Welcome All Colonials, Parents to Campus
A signature event in the George Washington University's Colonials Weekend, G-Dub Madness will take place this year on Friday, October 26th at 9pm. The annual event is a signature piece of Colonials Weekend that welcomes all Colonials, friends and family to campus.
GW's men's and women's basketball teams will be introduced at G-Dub Madness, with men's first year student-athletes Mezie Offurum (Georgetown Prep), Shandon Brown and Marcus Littles making their first public appearance in the Buff & Blue. On the women's side, Head Coach Jen Rizzotti, fresh off a gold-medal winning performance as assistant coach for the U.S. Women's National Team in the World Cup will once again direct a squad looking for its fourth A-10 Championship in five years.Â
Colonials Weekend also features a number of other events that showcase school spirit. GW Athletics will host all former student-athletes at the All-Athlete Reception on Saturday, October 27thin the Champions Club at the Charles E. Smith Center from 4-6pm.

- Volleyball vs. George Mason: Thursday, October 25th, 7pm, Smith CenterÂ
- Second Annual parents breakfast for first year student athletes: Saturday, 9-10am, Smith Center Colonials Club (REGISTER HERE)Â
- Women's Basketball open practice: Saturday, 11:30am-2pm, Smith Center (guests to enter through control desk entrance)
- Volleyball Alumnae scrimmage: Saturday, 2:30-3:45pm, Smith Center (guests to enter through control desk entrance)
Men's basketball wraps the weekend on Sunday, October 28that 4pm in exhibition action against Catholic University.
GW men's basketball, under the direction of third-year Head Coach Maurice Joseph, who added former Duke star Greg Paulus to his staff this year, makes its regular season home debut on Tuesday, November 6that 7pm vs. Stony Brook. Junior Arnaldo Toro and sophomore Terry Nolan Jr. (Mount Carmel, Baltimore) return as leading contributors for the Colonials, accompanied by promising sophomores Maceo Jack, tri-captain Justin Mazzulla and Javier Langarica. Fourth year transfers Armel Potter (Charleston Southern) and DJ Williams (Illinois) will make their debuts for GW this season after sitting out last year under transfer rules.Â
For the A-10 Champion women's team, seniors Mei-Lyn Bautista and Kelsi Mahoney drive the ship, backed by sophomores Chyna Latimer, Lexus Levy and Neila Luma. Transfers Olivia Gumbs (Lafayette) and Sarah Overcash (Chevy Chase, Md., Illinois) will also debut this season for the Colonials. The GW women begin their season on Nov. 8that James Madison and debut in front of the Smith Center faithful on Sunday, November 11that 2pm against Princeton.Â
