Women's Swimming & Diving Earns Split at American

In their first meet after their annual winter training trip to Florida, the Colonials beat the host Eagles, 158-82, but came up short against Georgetown, 127-115. They are now 6-2 in head-to-head competition this season.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Atherley picked up a pool record with her win in the 200-yard freestyle by finishing in 1:52.38, nearly four seconds clear of the field. The sophomore from the Channel Islands also claimed the 500-yard freestyle in 5:03.01. She also teamed with Fusco, Hannah Kopydlowski and Lynn Zhang to win the meet-closing 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:38.45.
- Fusco earned victories in both of her individual swims, taking the 50-yard freestyle (24.24) and 100-yard butterfly (57.70).
- Zhang also won a pair of individual swims. The junior won the 200-yard individual medley (2:06.40) and 100-yard freestyle (52.51) and also placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke.
UP NEXT: GW wraps up its regular season next Saturday, Jan. 20, with a Senior Day matchup against Old Dominion at Charles E. Smith Center Pool. The ceremony to honor the program's 10 seniors -- six men and four women -- begins at 10:45 a.m.
