SETTING THE STAGE: The GW women's water polo team heads to Bloomington, Indiana, this weekend for the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Championship. The three-day, nine-team event will take place from April 28-30 at IU's Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatics Center.
GW (13-16, 1-7 CWPA) will be the No. 8 seed in the tournament and take on ninth-seeded Saint Francis on Friday at noon. The winner will face top-seeded and seventh-ranked Michigan at 6 p.m., while the loser will play Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
THE FIELD: Seventh-ranked Michigan earned the one-seed in the championship, followed by ninth-ranked Princeton, No. 15 Hartwick and No. 16 Indiana. No. 20 Harvard is the No. 5 seed, while No. 25 Brown is seeded sixth and Bucknell seventh.
RECORD SETTER: Junior Scarlett Hallahan became GW's all-time leading goal scorer with 59 goals this season, to total 199 in her career and surpass Hannah Cox (189, 2013-16). She also ranks second in points with 302, behind only Rachael Bentley (362, 2011-14).
HITTING 50: With 48 goals this season, junior Jacqueline Bywater needs just two more to reach the 50-goal plateau for the third consecutive season. She has 182 in her career which ranks third in school history.
GW vs. SAINT FRANCIS: The Colonials won both regular season matchups against Saint Francis, taking a 10-7 road victory on Feb. 17 and a 9-7 win on March 10 in the GW Invitational.
