ALERT: Due to impending inclement weather in Boston on Saturday all races will be held on Friday evening starting at 6:30 p.m.
ON THE LINE: The George Washington men's rowing team will hit the water for its spring debut on Saturday when it lines up against Harvard and Cornell for a series of races on the Charles River in Boston, Massachusetts, on Friday afternoon beginning at 6:30 p.m.
ON THE RISE: Under the direction of eighth-year head coach Mark Davis and sixth-year assistant Tom Guncik, the Colonials have continued their upward trajectory into the national and international spotlight.
Last season, GW placed 18th overall as a team in the Ten Eyck Award standings after an 18th-place finish by the Varsity 8, a 14th-place finish by the 2nd Varsity 8 and an 11th-place finish by the 3rd Varsity 8 at the 2016 IRA National Championships. The Colonials also placed fifth overall in the Chapman Award standings for the Most Improved Team in the nation.
GW Men's Rowing was represented for the first time in program history at the world renowned Henley Royal Regatta over the summer. Two Fours qualified for the Visitors Challenge Cup with the A4 winning a race over Cambridge & Goldie Boat Club.
LOADED WITH EXPERIENCE: GW only lost a total of five student-athletes to graduation last spring (four rowers, one coxswain) and the roster features a heavy load of racing experience heading into the spring season.
