HENLEY-ON-THAMES - The George Washington men's rowing team boats have learned of their respective opponents for the upcoming Visitors' Challenge Cup at the Henley Royal Regatta.
The time-honored tradition of the draw took place on Saturday at the Henley-on-Thames Town Hall. The stewards of the regatta first identify selected crews, which are the higher-rated boats in each bracket. These crews are strategically seeded as to not face each other until the final two days of competition.
GW's A4 will face the Cambridge University & Goldie Boat Club (UK) in the opening round while the B4, fresh off its successful qualifying performance on Friday, will row against selected crew De Amstel & Proteus-Eretes (Netherlands). GW's two crews could potentially meet in the semifinals of the bracket.
