The George Washington swimming and diving teams swept CollegeSwimming.com's Atlantic 10 conference Swimmer-of-the-Week honors. Sophomore Lucy Castro earned recognition on the women's side and freshman Alex Cronin earned the nod on the men's side for their performances against Rider on Saturday.
Castro grabbed a pair of individual first-place finishes against Rider in GW's home opener on Saturday, winning the 500 freestyle (5:10.12) and the 1,000 freestyle (10:36.35) as the Colonials downed Rider's women in dominating fashion. Castro also helped the Buff and Blue win the 400 free relay.
Cronin also notched two first-place performances individually in distance events, winning the 500 free (4:46.39) and 1,000 free (9:43.98) against a strong Rider squad on Saturday. Cronin also helped GW take first in the 400 free relay. The rookie also added a fourth-place finish in the 200 butterfly (1:58.56).
The Colonials return to action on Saturday, Oct. 29, when Howard visits the Charles E. Smith Center Pool.
