The George Washington women’s swimming and diving team won all but one event to defeat Rider in the Colonials' home opener over the weekend at the Charles E. Smith Center Pool.
The GW squad won 15 events and had nine different Colonials touch the wall with first-place finishes.
Saturday marked Rider’s first meet of the season. The Broncs’ were coming off of a strong 2015-16 season, finishing second at the 2016 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championships.
GW completed a two-day meet from Sept. 30-Oct. 1 to open the season, where the women’s squad notched victories over UNC-Asheville and Atlantic 10 foe Davidson to post a 2-1 record.
After this weekend’s triumph, the Colonials improve to 3-1 in dual meet action.
