GW Men's Rowing Concludes Season at IRA Championships

WEST WINDSOR, N.J. - The George Washington men's rowing team concluded its 2015 spring season by partaking in three event finals on the final day of the Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) National Championships on Sunday morning on Lake Mercer.
GW's Varsity 8 concluded the season as the 22nd-ranked crew in the nation following a fourth-place finish in the Fourth-Level Final. The Colonials finished the 2,000-meter course in 5:50.65, ahead of Oklahoma City (5:59.22) and UC Santa Clara (6:01.73). Syracuse won the final in 5:45.10, followed by Drexel (5:47.67) and Oregon State (5:47.88).
The 2nd Varsity 8 notched a final national ranking of No. 15 in the nation with a third-place finish in the 3rd Level Final. It marks the 2V8's best IRA finish since placing 12th in 2009.
GW navigated the course in 5:54.049, just three seconds behind first-place Columbia (5:51.09). Navy took second in 5:53.293 while the trio of Syracuse (5:57.30), Hobart (5:59.75) and Oregon State (5:59.80) finished behind the Colonials.
GW's 3rd Varsity 8 finished in fourth place in its 3rd Level Final to clinch a final national ranking of No. 16. The Colonials finished the course in 6:04.03, finishing ahead of Drexel (6:06.23), Hobart (6:07.31) and Holy Cross (6:09.56). Syracuse won the final in 5:54.32, with Oregon State (5:57.00) and Penn (6:00.57) joining the Orange in the top three.
