2015 All-CWPA Division I/II Teams
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. - George Washington women's water polo freshman Jacqueline Bywater was named to the All-CWPA Division I/II Second Team and classmate Scarlett Hallahan was selected as an honorable mention, the Collegiate Water Polo Association announced on Thursday. The teams were selected by a vote of the league's head coaches.
The duo combined for six CWPA Rookie of the Week accolades this season, with Bywater earning four and Hallahan taking two. Bywater's four nods matched a league record.
Bywater set GW's single-season scoring records with 75 goals and 131 points on the year, and she is on pace to break the program's single-season assists and steals marks, as her 56 assists are five shy of the record and her 83 steals sit six short. The native of Riverside, California, also matched the Colonials' single-game scoring record with eight goals and 11 points twice this season - against Notre Dame (Ohio) on Feb. 14 and again versus St. Francis Brooklyn on March 28.
In addition to her four Rookie of the Week awards, Bywater has also been named CWPA Player of the Week twice in 2015, making her the first Colonial ever to win both awards twice in the same season.
Hallahan is right behind Bywater with 72 goals, which ranks second all-time at GW, and her 107 points are the third-most ever by a Colonial in a season. The San Diego native also has 13 field blocks on the year, second on the team and tied for fourth on GW's single-season list, to go with 35 assists, 35 steals and 23 ejections drawn.
With Bywater and Hallahan's accolades, it marks the third year in a row and sixth time in the last seven years that a pair of Colonials have been honored by the CWPA. Rachael Bentley and Megan Brolley were both recognized in each of the last two seasons.
GW (12-14) begins play at the CWPA Championship on Friday at 10:30 a.m. when the ninth-seeded Colonials take on eighth-seeded Mercyhurst.
