BRIDGEPORT, Pa. - George Washington women's water polo freshman Scarlett Hallahan was named CWPA Division I/II Rookie of the Week for the Week ending March 1, the Collegiate Water Polo Association announced on Wednesday.
Hallahan led the Colonials with 11 goals, 14 points and three field blocks in four games last weekend, and she added 10 steals, the second-most on the team, as well as two ejections drawn.
Hallahan matched her career high with five goals and added a career-best five steals to go with two ejections drawn against Hartwick in the first game of the weekend, and she tallied four goals and three steals in GW's 10-4 win over Gannon in the final game.
A native of San Diego, Hallahan leads the Colonials with 37 goals and is second with 50 points through 11 games this season.
With Hallahan's award, a Colonial has been named Rookie of the Week in each of the last three weeks, as freshman Jacqueline Bywater garnered the distinction on both Feb. 19 and 26. It is the first time two different Colonials have been recognized as Rookie of the Week in the same season since Hannah Cox and Erin Donoghue in 2013.
GW (5-6, 0-3 CWPA) returns to action this weekend at the Convergence Tournament in Claremont, California.
