
GW Women's Water Polo Set for Princeton Invite

WASHINGTON - The George Washington women's water polo team will play three games in two days at the annual Princeton Invitational this weekend at the Tigers' DeNunzio Pool. The Colonials will face Wagner and VMI on Saturday and Iona on Sunday.

Saturday, Feb. 8
GW vs. Wagner - 2 p.m.
GW vs. VMI - 6 p.m.
Sunday, Feb. 9
GW vs. Iona - 12 p.m.
GW (1-0) is coming off a season-opening 13-11 victory at Villanova last Saturday, the Colonials' 10th straight win over the Wildcats. Senior Allison Littlejohn led GW with seven points on three goals and four assists and added three steals, while senior Rachael Bentley scored a team-high four goals.
VMI will open its season this weekend at the Princeton Invite. The Keydets were picked to finish fifth in the MAAC preseason poll after going 12-22 last season. GW is 3-0 all-time against VMI, including a 12-10 victory at the Charles E. Smith Center Pool in 2013.
Iona (0-3) is coming off a 16-15 double-overtime loss to Harvard last Saturday at the Villanova Invitational and has also dropped contests to No. 15 Indiana and No. 13 Michigan. The Colonials are 6-3 all-time against the Gaels after splitting a pair of matches last season.
