TOWSON, Md. - The George Washington women's swimming and diving team fell to 38th-ranked Towson, 192-101, on Saturday afternoon at the Tigers' Burdick Pool.
Senior Morgan Zebley paced the Buff and Blue with a win and three second place finishes on the day.
Zebley won the 100-yard butterfly in 57.55, followed by sophomore Carly Whitmer in third in 58.42, senior Bianca Valencia in fourth in 59.85 and freshman Phoebe Turner in fifth in 1:01.06.
In the 100 free, Zebley clocked in at 54.57 seconds for second place and Kopydlowski followed in 55.02 for third. Rookie Hannah Kopydlowski, Turner and junior Maggie Hofstadter earned third, fourth and fifth in the 50 free in 24.93, 25.34 and 25.44 seconds.
Whitmer (2:08.94), Valencia (2:11.03) and sophomore Lauren Law (2:13.88) recorded second, third and fourth places, respectively, in the 200 fly. Junior Madison Reinker earned second in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:43.31, and Lee took home second in the 200 free in 1:57.41.
Freshman Abigail Fusco finished third in the 100-yard backstroke (59.75), and junior Mara Debnekoff finished third in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:09.46). Fusco then finished second in the 200 back with a time of 2:08.44. Lee earned third place in the 200 breast in 2:28.40.
The 200-yard medley relay team of Fusco, Lee, Zebley and Kopydlowski finished second in 1:49.33, and the 400 free relay team of Kopydlowski, Hofstadter, Whitmer and Zebley clocked in at 3:39.45 for second place.
The Colonials wrap the 2014 portion of their schedule at the three-day Patriot Invitation from Thursday, Nov. 20 through Saturday, Nov. 22 in Fairfax, Virginia.
