WASHINGTON - The George Washington men's and women's swimming and diving teams travel to Towson, Maryland on Saturday afternoon for their final dual meet of 2014. Action at the Tigers' Burdick Pool is slated for 1 p.m.
GW looks to bounce back after falling to Drexel last weekend. The women's side was edged by the Dragons by a slight 154.5-144.5 margin, and the men's team was defeated, 162-119.
Five Colonials paced the women's team with seniors Janica Lee and Morgan Zebley, sophomores Lauren Law and Carly Whitmer and rookie Hannah Kopydlowski leading the way. Lee and Zebley each won two events and tallied two second place finishes, Whitmer won two individual races, Kopydlowski was a part of two first place relays and Law earned a victory and three second place finishes.
The men were led by a pair of seniors in Goran Koprivnjak and Adam Rabe and the freshman duo of Adam Drury and Gustav Hokfelt. Rabe picked up two wins and two second places, Hokfelt won an event and recorded three second place finishes, Koprivnjak tallied a victory and two second places and Drury won one event.
Towson's men's team is currently ranked 27th in the nation while the women are No. 38 in CollegeSwimming.com's Division I Power Rankings. Both squads are coming off successful meets at George Mason last weekend in which the women went undefeated against College of Charleston (251-95), George Mason (222-126) and Northeastern (230-118), and the men's side beat the Cougars (225-124) and the Patriots (213-139).
Following Saturday's meet, the Colonials wrap the 2014 portion of their schedule at the three-day Patriot Invitational in Fairfax, Virginia from Thursday, Nov. 20 through Saturday, Nov. 22.
