GW Women's Swimming Finishes Fourth at URI Invitational

Sophomore Caroline Myers paced GW with a team-high three first-place finishes while the Colonials as a whole earned 18 top-five finishes on the weekend.
Myers opened action with a winning time of 5:00.75 in the 500-yard freestyle. She then cruised to victory in the 1,000 free with a time of 10:19.70, 21.03 seconds ahead of URI's second-place finisher. Myers' final victory came in the 400-yard individual medley when she touched the wall in 4:34.33.
Freshman Morgan Zebley earned a second-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 59.95 seconds. Sophomore Emily Kane swam a time of 2:14.19 in the 200 fly for a fourth-place finish.
Freshman Janica Lee claimed second in the 200 individual medley in 2:12.07, followed by Kane in fifth place with a time of 2:13.87. Lee also finished second in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:26.41 and fourth in the 100 breast in 1:08.44.
Sophomore Lindsay Moore earned a third-place finish in the 200 back, clocking in at 2:11.20. Sydney Saunders swam a time of 25.26 seconds in the 50 free for a seventh place finish, while Sloan Saunders landed ninth place with a time of 25.39 seconds.
The 200-yard medley relay team of Moore, Lee, Zebley and sophomore Melissa Fernandez claimed second place with a time of 1:52.41. The 200 free relay team of Lee, Myers, Sloan Saunders and Sydney Saunders earned a fourth-place finish with a time of 1:40.77.
