Men's Rowing Wins Varsity 4 Petite Final Gold Medal

CHERRY HILL, N.J.- The George Washington men's rowing team concluded the Intercollegiate Rowing Association National Championships with a gold-medal performance in the Varsity 4 Petite Final, narrowly defeating Northeastern at the finish line by just over one second.
The Colonials Varsity 4 crew, consisting of coxswain Margaret Barone, stroke Trofym Anderson, Colin York (three seat), Craig Helmstetter (two seat) and bow James Stafford, rowed to two first-place finishes over the weekend including Friday's repechage victory.
In Friday's semifinals, GW was unable to clinch a spot in the grand finals with their fifth-place finish. They rebounded by taking gold against a field that included Northeastern, district-rival Georgetown, Temple, Holy Cross and Syracuse.
