
Women's Water Polo Drops Pair in Princeton Saturday

PRINCETON, NJ - The George Washington women's water polo team dropped a pair of games Saturday, falling to nationally ranked No. 14 Hartwick, 10-8, and CWPA Southern Division rival Princeton, 11-4, at the Tigers' DeNunzio Pool.
Playing their second ranked opponent in as many games, the Colonials scored three unanswered goals in the second quarter to tie the Hawks, 6-6, at halftime. Hartwick responded with three consecutive goals of its own in the third quarter to lead 9-6 and GW could only manage to make up one of the goals in the fourth period.
Junior Allison Peotter led the charge with three goals, three steals, an assist and field blog for GW. Freshman Katherine Berry added two goals and junior Megan Walker pitched in a goal, two assists and three ejections drawn. Senior goalkeeper Charlotte Schoue made 11 saves.
In Saturday's late game, Princeton raced out to an early 4-0 lead and never trailed to defeat GW in its CWPA Southern Division opener.
Walker finished with a goal and four ejections drawn for the Colonials, followed by one goal apiece from senior Erin Delker and freshman Allison Littlejohn and Rachael Bentley, Peotter recorded an assist and three steals, and Schou amassed 10 saves.
GW is idle for 10 days before embarking on its annual West Coast trip. The Colonials begin play is Rohnert Park, CA, on March 15 against both Cal State Monterey Bay and Sonoma State.
