BRIDGEPORT, PA - George Washington women's water polo junior attack Allison Peotter claimed a share of her CWPA-leading third Southern Division Player of the Week award of the season on Tuesday after averaging three goals and 4.6 points in five games on the West Coast last week.
Peotter, who shared the weekly honor with Princeton's Saranna Soroka, amassed 15 goals, eight assists, 18 swim-offs won, 13 steals and six ejections drawn as GW went 1-4 in a weather-hampered swing through Northern California.
Peotter's best performance of the week came Sunday against No. 16 UC Davis in which she scored six goals and added an assist and five steals against the Aggies. She totaled three-or-more points in all five games, including a goal and two assists, along with four swim-offs and three steals, against No. 2 California on Sunday.
During the five-game West Coast trip, Peotter eclipsed the 100-goal mark and now has 108 career goals. She also moved to a tie for second all-time at GW with 92 assists and is fifth all-time at GW with 200 points and 163 steals in 65 career games.
The Player of the Week award is the fifth of Peotter's career and her eighth weekly honor from the CWPA after earning three Rookie of the Week awards in 2008.
Along with Peotter's award, freshman Rachael Bentley was named to the CWPA Southern Division Rookie of the Week Honor Roll after finishing second on the team with seven goals and nine points in the Colonials' five-game week.
GW (3-11, 0-1 CWPA Southern Division) hosts a round-robin invitational with Mercyhurst, Siena and Villanova at Charles E. Smith Center Pool this weekend.
