BRIDGEPORT, PA - George Washington women's water polo junior attacker Allison Peotter and senior goalkeeper Charlotte Schou were named the CWPA Southern Division Player and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, the league announced Tuesday.
Peotter totaled eight points on five goals and three assists, won all eight swim-offs and added three steals in GW's 1-1 week. The two-time CWPA First Team All-South selection led the Colonials with a hat trick, an assist, three steals and four swim-offs in Saturday's 10-8 victory over Bucknell. She finished the weekend with four points on two goals and two assists in Sunday's 8-7 loss to Wagner.
With 22 swim-offs won in six games this season, Peotter is now the program's career leader in the category with 145. The Player of the Week award is the third of Peotter's career, having won the honor once as a rookie in 2009 and again in 2010.
Schou amassed 18 saves and three steals, including 10 blocks and two steals in Saturday's win over Bucknell, and allowed just 8.00 goals-per-game in two games this week. The Defensive Player of the Week award is also the third of Schou's career after earning the honor twice last spring.
GW (2-4) plays its first home game of the 2011 season Friday, March 4, against Maryland. Opening swim-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
