WASHINGTON - George Washington senior attack Marissa Stamler and sophomore attack Allison Peotter were both named to the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) All-Southern Division First Team Friday.
Peotter is the first Colonial to repeat on the All-South First Team after being the first GW freshman chosen to the team last season. Stamler earns all-conference recognition for the third consecutive year after earning second team status in 2008 and 2009. It marks just the second time in program history the Colonials have multiple First Team All-South selections.
A two-time CWPA Player of the Week selection, Stamler led GW with 51 goals and 74 points, ranked second on the team in assists (23) and ejections drawn (35), and third with 26 steals. Her 51 goals were the fourth-highest single-season total in program history and she finished her four-year career ranked fourth all-time at GW with 192 points and fifth with 139 goals and 68 assists.
Peotter earned CWPA Player of the Week honors on April 5 en route to leading the Colonials in assists (33), steals (55) and swim-offs (53) in 2010. She also tied for second on the team with 30 goals and trailed only Stamler with 63 points. In just two seasons, Peotter is tied with Stamler for fifth at GW with 68 assists and has 147 points and 79 goals.
Peotter is among seven players expected to return to GW, which finished 7-17 overall in 2010.
