George Washington Cruises Past Fordham, 87-62

WASHINGTON (AP) -Damian Hollis scored 19 points and Rob Diggs scored 17 points to help George Washington beat Fordham 87-62 on Saturday, ending an 11-game losing streak.
Wynton Witherspoon scored 13 points and Tony Taylor added 10 points for the Colonials (7-13, 1-7 Atlantic 10), who won their first conference game of the season and their first game overall since a December 23 road win against Sacramento State.
The Colonials scored a season-high 57 first-half points, shooting 63.9 percent from the floor (23-for-36) for a 57-24 halftime lead.
In the only meeting between schools this season, the Colonials led by as many as 41 points in the second half and held the Rams to 32.8 (20-61) shooting overall.
Jio Fontan scored 22 points for Fordham (3-17, 1-7), which dropped their second straight game and have lost 10 of 11 overall.
NOTES: Rob Diggs became the 41st Colonial to score 1,000 career points when he converted a layup at the 16:27 mark of the second half. Diggs also blocked two shots giving him 129 career blocks and moved him into fourth place on the GW career blocks list.
The GW starting lineup included guard Johnny Lee and F Aaron Ware, the first starts of the season for both Saturday.
