Swimming Splits with Rival Georgetown

WASHINGTON, DC - The George Washington swim team split with the Georgetown Saturday afternoon at the Charles E. Smith Center Natatorium. The GW men's team won 149.50-112.50, while the GW women fell 143-101.
The men's team started the day with a big win in the 200-yard medley relay, with Alex Etz, Paolo DeLuca, Zach Peart and Marshall Seedorff posting a time of 1:37.32 to defeat Georgetown's time of 1:37.60.
GW men's team made the last event, the 400-yard freestyle relay, of the day a nail bitter. The team of Niklas Glenesk, Luke Quimby, Stephen Nelson and Davin Harding came from behind to briefly take the lead before finishing at the same time (3:15.82).
Senior Katrina Timlin led the GW women's team with two big wins in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:08.69) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:23.56). Timlin also took second in the 50-yard freestyle (25.24).
Fellow senior on the GW women's team Emily Leik took first in the 200-yard backstroke (2:12.94), as the only Colonial in the event.
Freshman Paige Dingess won the 100-yard fly (1:02.18) and 200-yard individual medley (2:20.54) for the Colonials.
The Colonials are in the pool next on Nov. 7 at Drexel with Villanova in Philadelphia. The meet is set to start at 1:00 p.m.
