Women's Swimming Concludes Day One at Catholic

WASHINGTON, DC - The women's swimming & diving team competed in Session One of their Annual Invitational against local rivals American University and Catholic at the Cardinal's DuFour Center Natatorium on Friday night. The women were paced by freshman Paola Leor who earned a first and second place finish. Sophomores Emily Leik, Cissey Ye and Katrina Timlin as well as junior Jessica Miga all pitched in with top five performances.
Leor captured the final event of the day, the 50-yard freestyle in 24.72. Miga and Timlin both placed in the top five in the event as Miga took third in 25.76 and Timlin fifth in 26.12. Leor also placed second in the longer of the freestyle events, the 500-yard in 5:11.88. Ye placed fifth in 5:23.80.
Leik placed second in the 200-yard IM in 2:14.96.
Freshman Sarah Beggs and Noelle Miesfeld, as well as junior Ariana Berdini and Molly Moss all won heats on the night. Beggs and Miesfeld placed sixth in the 200-yard IM and 500-yard freestyle, respectively, winning their heats in 2:18.79 and 5:24.69, respectively. Berdini won her heat of the 500-yard freestyle in 5:29.02, while Moss took the 50-yard freestyle in 27.46.
The Colonials will compete in the Sessions 2 and 3 of the two-day Invite tomorrow at American's Reeves Aquatic Center. The early session will start at 10:00 am while the late session will commence at 3:00 pm.
