Men's Soccer Defeated By Massachusetts, 2-1

AMHERST, MA (Oct. 28)- George Washington University lost its second-straight match, falling to the conference-leading University of Massachusetts Minutemen, 2-1 in a physical game.
After a scoreless first half, the Minutemen got on the board in the 57th minute when UMass' Ptah Myers put a shot past keeper Nick Parypinski just inside the right goalpost. UMass would score again in the 72nd minute when Massachusetts' Jeff Deren beat Parypinski to give the Minutemen a 2-0 lead.
Rookie forward Arnar Johannsson would halve the lead late in the match, placing a shot pass UMass' keeper in the 83rd minute off passes from Justin Evans and Matt Pilkington.
The Colonials (7-7, 4-5) would run out of time, becoming the Minutemen's ninth-straight victim. GW returns home this week to face Duquesne on Friday, November 2 in a 3:00 p.m. at the Mt. Vernon Athletic Complex.
