Women's Swim Team Opens Season With Victory

ANNAPOLIS, MD (Oct. 23, 1999) - With 11 first place finishes out of 16 events, the George Washington women's swimming and diving team notched its first victory of the season, defeating Navy, 168-130, on Saturday.The women captured first place in the 200 medley relay, 800 freestyle, 100 back, 100 breaststroke, 50 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 200 breaststroke, 400 freestyle, 100 butterfly, 200 individual medley and the 400 freestyle relay. Senior Rachel Smith (New Providence, NJ/New Providence) finished first in four of those events. Classmate Jennifer Skinner claimed first place in three events. The women's team, along with the men's, next compete Oct. 31 at Duquesne.
