Women’s Basketball Overcomes Slow Starts, Beats Duquesne on the Road
1/14/2026 9:52:00 PM | Women's Basketball
PITTSBURGH, Pa. – After a sluggish first half saw both teams combine for just 32 points, the George Washington women's basketball team found its groove after halftime, securing a 59-45 road win over Duquesne.
Sara Lewis was GW's bright spot through the first 20 minutes, scoring 10 of GW's 18 first half points to give the Revolutionaries an 18-14 lead at the break.
The buttons Head Coach Ganiyat Adeduntan pushed in the locker room worked wonders as the Buff & Blue lit up the scoreboard early in the third quarter. Kamari Sims connected on back-to-back triples in GW's first two possessions, while Gabby Reynolds knocked down a three of her own two possessions later to grab a double-digit lead.
GW's lead wouldn't shrink to less than eight the rest of the way as the Buff & Blue pick up its first win of 2026 and the team's first road Atlantic 10 victory of the season. The Revolutionaries move to 10-9 overall and 2-4 in conference action.
Lewis finished the night with a team-high 17 points, while also grabbing seven rebounds and dishing out four assists in a well-rounded effort. Sims tallied 13 points and grabbed three boards, while Emma Theodorsson added eight points in a homecoming game for the Pittsburgh native.
The Buff & Blue return home this weekend, welcoming Loyola Chicago to the Smith Center on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m. on ESPN+.
