
Volleyball Captures A-10 Series over Rhode Island

WASHINGTON- Playing four highly competitive frames against the Rhode Island Rams, GW volleyball captured its first A-10 series of the fall on Saturday. Before the match, the team honored its honorary captain, Juniper, before coming out to compete for the conference sweep.
HOW IT HAPPENED
· Both the first and second sets featured extra points, with the two teams reaching a tie 24 times in both sets. In spite of the narrow battle, the Buff & Blue edged out the visiting Rams in both sets, 26-24.
· Fighting back, Rhode Island found its rhythm in the third, 25-20, to force extra play.
· GW found its footing in the fourth and final set of the match, cruising to victory, 25-16, to claim the series sweep over Rhode Island.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
· Cianna Tejada led George Washington through Saturday's match, swinging for 17 kills and tallying three blocks at the net.
· Alexis Rodriguez earned a double-double, earning 15 kills and 10 digs.
· Cayla Cogan (13) and Sydney Hasenfratz (14) also put down double-digit kills. As a team, the Revolutionaries hit .299 across 65 kills.
· Abby Markworth fed the attack with a career-best 56 assists, two kills and a service ace.
· Lydia Zeng held down the defense with 14 digs.
GW's conference play continues on the road, as the Buff & Blue head to the Windy City to take on Loyola Chicago. The series will open at 7 p.m. ET next Friday in Chicago, and the match will be streamed on ESPN+.
