Volleyball Hosts Rhode Island in A-10 Opening Weekend, Raises Awareness for Childhood Cancer

WASHINGTON-Â GW volleyball is turning its efforts to the Atlantic 10 slate, playing host to the Rhode Island Rams this weekend in the Nation's Capital. The series with Rhody opens Friday at 6 p.m. and will conclude on Saturday with a 1 p.m. matinee. Friday's conference opener will be streamed live on ESPN+.Â
PLAYING WITH PURPOSE
Saturday serves as the program's annual cause game, and this year, the Buff & Blue have chosen to raise awareness for childhood cancer. Assistant Coach Nicole Alford's niece, who is currently fighting stage four osteosarcoma, a rare bone cancer, will be honored as the Honorary Captain for the match. Fans are encouraged to come to the Smith Center early for a special pre-match ceremony and in gold, honoring every child who has been impacted by childhood cancer.Â
