No. 19 Water Polo Readies for Three Games at the Navy Invitational

WASHINGTON - The No. 19 (T) GW water polo team returns to the pool this weekend for three games at the Navy Invitational. GW opens the weekend against LIU on Friday at 5:45 p.m., before meeting Salem on Saturday at 12Â p.m., and closing the weekend with a 3:20 p.m. ranked showdown on Saturday against No. 10 Princeton.

GW enters the weekend with a 2-7 record, having already faced seven top-20 opponents. GW held its national ranking from last week after finishing play at the Princeton Invitational at 0-3, with losses to No. 1 UCLA, No. 14 CBU (OT), and RV Santa Clara.
Through nine games, senior utility Adonis Vlassis leads the Buff & Blue with 32 points (25 goals, 7 assists). He has been supported offensively by sophomore attacker Yam Kabakov with 20 points (12 goals, 8 assists) and first-year center Andrea Forno with 17 points (15 goals, 2 assists).
In net, graduate goalkeeper Vasilije Marinkovic has borne the brunt of the work, totalling 74 saves with a .380 save percentage. He's been spelled on occasion by sophomore Connor Jermain, who has totaled 14 saves with a .424 save percentage.Â
