Volleyball Rolls Past Rams, Earning A-10 Series Sweep

BRONX, N.Y. -Â Behind 44 kills and attacking .306 across the afternoon's three-set affair, the GW volleyball team earned the match and A-10 series sweep over the Fordham Rams. With the win, the Buff & Blue sit 13-6 with a 6-1 mark in conference action.Â

HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
·      The hosts out-hit GW in the opening stanza, 16-14, but it was the Revolutionaries who found their way to a 25-22 set victory, thwarting Fordham's momentum late in set play.Â
·      The middle set was all Buff & Blue, as GW limited the Rams to just six kills and 12 points while putting down 16 of its own. A 25-12 set finish in favor of the GW Revs was good to push the match to its third and final sequence of the afternoon.Â
·      Fordham took the lead just once in the match's final frame, and the score was tied an additional eight times, but the Buff & Blue rallied past the hosts to earn the match and series sweep at 25-18.Â

·      On the defensive side, Alexis Rodriguez led with 14 digs, and Tejada and Treahy joined Cogan at the net, all with four blocks each.Â
·      Abby Markworth earned 32 assists at setter and chipped in two kills and two service aces.Â

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
·      En route to the dominating victory for GW, Cayla Cogan powered the offense with 10 kills while also leading GW in scoring with 12.5 points. Cianna Tejada, Taylor Treahy and Sydney Hasenfratz were also dynamic for GW's offense, with each earning eight kills and contributing 10 or more points apiece. ·      On the defensive side, Alexis Rodriguez led with 14 digs, and Tejada and Treahy joined Cogan at the net, all with four blocks each.Â
