Women’s Soccer Begins A-10 Action with St. Bonaventure, Saint Louis

WASHINGTON - The George Washington women's soccer team opens Atlantic 10 action on Thursday, hosting St. Bonaventure at The Vern at 3:00 p.m. The Revolutionaries then travel west to Saint Louis for a 2:00 p.m. meeting with the Billikens on Sunday. Both contests will be aired live on ESPN+.
SCOUTING THE BONNIES
St. Bonaventure enters the first week of conference action 1-6-1 overall after a 2-0 loss to Canisius last Wednesday. St. Bonaventure is led by Head Coach Donny George, who's in his second season with the program. George has a combined record of 4-14-7 with the Bonnies and looks to improve upon the team's 2-6-2 mark in conference play a season ago.
Leading St. Bonaventure statistically is Evie Underhill with three points on the year. Underhill has one goal and one assist, while also tallying five shots on goal. Five players have two points for SBU this year headlined by Alessia Donia who leads the team with two assists. Thea Juul, Lilly Ma, Maya Marolly and Lauren Westwood have each recorded one goal apiece to make up the Bonnies' offensive production in 2024. Defensively, Jael Schubert has played 456 minutes in net for St. Bonaventure, recording 25 saves and a save percentage of 67.6%. Schubert was credited with the team's lone win this year. Saint Louis, the reigning A-10 Tournament champions, enters the week 4-1-3 overall and will travel to UMass on Thursday for a conference meeting with the Minutewomen. The Billikens, whose lone loss this season came against Penn State, are ranked 22nd in the United Soccer Coaches weekly top 25 poll. Saint Louis has outscored opponents by a combined total of 19-6 this season, and the program hasn't lost an A-10 match since October 24, 2021, a streak of 29-straight matches. The Billikens are led by Head Coach Katie Shields who took the helm of the program prior to the 2013 season.
On the pitch, SLU is led by Emily Gaebe with six goals and 15 points on the year. Her 34 total shots and 20 shots on goal are tops in the conference, while her points total is tied for second-best in the A-10. Hannah Sawyer, Julia Simon and Audrey Smith each have two goals as well for the Billikens. Emily Puricelli anchors Saint Louis defensively with 674 minutes in net.
