WASHINGTON- After a swift three sets, the George Washington volleyball team claimed victory over the Hampton Pirates, 25-14, 26-24, 25-15.
BY THE NUMBERS
Senior Salem Yohannes and first-year Taylor Treahy championed the attack once again, claiming nine kills apiece. At setter, Dilara Elmacıoğlu and Grace Allread fed the attack with 35 of the team's 44 assists. Amina Robinson earned the nod at libero, tallying 14 digs over the course of the evening. At the net, first-year Riley Samuel made her first start in the Buff & Blue, recording four kills and three blocks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The first set moved swiftly, with GW earning a quick 6-0 advantage over the Pirates off kills from senior MC Daubendiek and Treahy. GDUB never surrendered their wide lead and remained consistent, claiming victory 25-14 off a powerful kill from Yohannes.
The second stanza featured a back-and forth between the two teams. With two lead changes and seven tied scores, an efficient GW offense claimed the second set. Swinging behind a remarkable .425 hitting percentage, the Revolutionaries tallied 19 kills to top Hampton's 15, earning victory, 26-24.
In the third and final frame, the lead was once again narrow for the Revolutionaries. Two tied scores and one lead change did not stop the GW offense, which rattled off 18 kills to set the tempo for victory. A kill from sophomore Haylee Brown sealed the match in favor of the home team, 25-15.

The Revolutionaries will continue their home streak this Friday in the Smith Center as they face Rider at 11 a.m. and IU Indianapolis at 6 p.m. Both matches will be streamed on ESPN+.
