Men’s Soccer Announces 2024 Schedule

WASHINGTON - The George Washington University men's soccer team released its 2024 schedule on Wednesday, unveiling a 17-game regular season which features seven home matches and eight A-10 fixtures.
The Revolutionaries will take the field for the first time in 2024 with two exhibition matches. GW will visit NJIT (8/11) before taking on Mary Washington (8/18) at home in preseason matches.
GW then opens the regular season with seven consecutive non-conference matches, beginning with the home opener vs. Old Dominion (8/22). It marks the second-straight season that GW opens with a match vs. Old Dominion - the Revolutionaries and Monarchs tied 2-2 last season in the opener in Norfolk, Va. GW returns both goal scorers from last year's season opener, graduate William Turner and sophomore Ben Hissrich, who finished last season first (11) and third (6) on the team in points, respectively. Just three days later, GW returns for another home matchup vs. Saint Peter's (8/25).
Following a change of date, Alumni Weekend for the men's soccer program will take place in early September and will surround GW's last non-conference home game vs. Rider (9/7).
The first of six non-conference road matches will be a challenge as the Buff & Blue travel to Morgantown, W.Va., for the opportunity to test themselves against a West Virginia squad that was one of the last four teams standing in the country last season. GW will also pay visits to Stony Brook (9/3), Navy (9/10), Iona (9/17), Howard (9/24) and Delaware (10/15) to round out its non-conference away slate.
"We have a really challenging schedule with some very difficult away trips," said head coach Craig Jones. "We feel the group we have are ready to meet the demands and challenges the schedule will pose and get us ready and prepared for our A-10 for opponents and pursuit of postseason play."
A-10 action begins roughly one month into the season as GW opens up conference play vs. Duquesne on Sept. 21. GW will also host conference matches vs. St. Bonaventure (10/9), Saint Joseph's (10/12) and La Salle (11/2).
The Revolutionaries' first A-10 road match of 2024 comes as they will look to win their fifth-straight match against rival George Mason (9/28). The last time GW played at George Mason was in the regular-season finale in 2022, when GW won 3-0 to clinch a spot in the postseason. The GW Revs then go on to play road games at Dayton (10/5), Fordham (10/19) and Saint Louis (10/26).
The 2024 Atlantic 10 Championship will be played immediately following the conclusion of the regular season. GW last competed in the A-10 Championship in 2022 when it fell 1-0 to Loyola Chicago in the opening round. All A-10 Championship matches will be played on the campus of the higher seed.
