WASHINGTON – The George Washington men's and women's track & field teams open the 2024 outdoor season on Friday at the Fred Hardy Invitational hosted by the University of Richmond. The meet has a scheduled start time of 10:00 a.m., and will be held at Fred Hardy Track in Richmond, Va.
The GW women enjoyed a successful 2023-24 indoor season, setting six different school records in the process. Graduate Rachel Horowtiz was responsible for five of the records, setting program marks in the 60m, 200m, 300m, 400m and 500m. Horowitz also played a part in the sixth record set this season as part of GW's 4x400m relay team that set the benchmark at the Atlantic 10 Championships. Horowitz, along with teammates Kamryn Holness, Alexia Massoud and Rita Mazumder, recorded a time of 3:58.16 to shatter the previous record of 4:34.53 that stood for nine seasons. Entering the first outdoor season as "Revolutionaries," GW looks to continue rewriting the record books into the spring.
This Friday in Richmond, GW will send 26 student-athletes to compete in eight different events. The Buff & Blue will take part in the women's 100m, 200m, 400m, 400m hurdles, 800m and 1500m. GDUB will also compete in the men's 800m and 1500m races as well. Live results and a live stream of the event will be accessible through GWsports.com.
