No. 20 (T) Water Polo Hosts Johns Hopkins, Travels to Navy to Close Regular Season

WASHINGTON - The George Washington University water polo team (14-7, 10-2 MAWPC) is heading down the stretch as it prepares for the final two matches of the regular season this weekend. On Friday, GW welcomes Johns Hopkins to Long Bridge Park (7:30 p.m.), before the Revolutionaries head to Annapolis to take on Navy in the season finale (10 a.m.) in a game streamed on Navy's YouTube page.Â
MAWPC STANDINGS UPDATE
Entering the final weekend of play, the Revolutionaries (20 points, 10-2 MAWPC) are tied for the top seed in the conference with Fordham (20 points, 10-0 MAWPC), both of whom are four points ahead of Navy (16 points, 8-4 MAWPC). Fordham has the advantage heading into the final weekend with four games and eight possible points remaining, while GW and Navy each have two games and four possible points remaining.
With Navy as the only team in striking distance of the Revolutionaries entering the final weekend, a GW win vs. either Johns Hopkins or Navy would guarantee the Revolutionaries a top-two seed at the upcoming MAWPC Championship. Â
ABOUT THE OPPONENTS
Johns Hopkins enters play on Friday at 11-19 overall and 3-9 in conference with six points in the MAWPC standings. The Blue Jays and Revolutionaries met once already this season, which resulted in a 14-12 GW victory on Oct. 20. After facing GW on Friday, Johns Hopkins will also travel to Annapolis to close its season out against Navy on Saturday.
Navy is 18-9 overall and 8-4 in the MAWPC. The Midshipmen have won four of their last six matches, with their losses coming to GW (13-12) and Fordham (18-10).
