Volleyball Falls to No. 21 Flyers in Three

Dayton, Ohio- The GW Volleyball program fell in three straight sets Friday evening to the nationally ranked Dayton Flyers inside the Frericks Center.
BY THE NUMBERS
Salem Yohannes and Taylor Treahy each put down six kills on Friday evening for GW. Treahy also led the way for GW at the service line, contributing two aces. On defense, Cianna Tejada clocked two blocks at the net; at setter, Dilara Elmacıoğlu and Abby Markworth combined for 18 assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
In the opening stanza, GW fought hard against the Flyers, keeping the Dayton lead to a minimum. Late in the set, Taylor Treahy put down a service ace to force a Dayton timeout. Despite the Revolutionaries' efforts to stall the Flyers, Dayton claimed the first, 25-17 over GW.
Treahy opened up the second set with a kill, stalling the Dayton serving run. The majority of the set was a back-and-forth between the two teams, with GW holding the UD lead to a minimum for the majority of play. However, in the final points, the Flyers pulled ahead of GW to win 25-16.
In the third, Dayton's momentum continued to pick up and the Flyers sealed the match with a 25-6 victory over the Buff & Blue.
The Revolutionaries will return to action tomorrow at 1 p.m. as they conclude the series with the Flyers in Dayton. The match will be streamed on ESPN+.
