Volleyball Held Off at Davidson, 3-0

DAVIDSON, N.C. – GW volleyball fell, 3-0, in its second-conference match at Davidson on Sunday, with set scores of 11-25, 24-26, 15-25.
BY THE NUMBERS
Liv Womble led the GW attack with nine kills and two errors on 26 attempts, with a .269 hitting percentage. Brittany Myers added six kills and Elizabeth Drelling added four. Dilara Elmacioglu tallied 16 assists and Maeve Loughran posted nine.
Defensively, Amina Robinson scooped up 13 digs and Markella Lanara made three stops at the net.
HOW IT HAPPENED
GW was limited to five kills in the opening set, with Davidson putting down 18 to take set one comfortably, 25-11.
After opening set two with a 3-0 lead, the Buff & Blue trailed Davidson until they evened the set at 15 and regained the lead at 16-15. The two teams then traded points, with GW continuing to hold a steady one-point lead, before the set was tied again at 23, with a pair of Davidson kills and a GW error lifting the home team to the 2-0 set advantage.
Davidson quickly moved to a 7-3 lead to begin set three and maintained its lead throughout the remainder of the frame to earn the 3-0 victory. GW and Davidson each had eight kills at the midway point of the set, but a more efficient Wildcat offense helped to a 17-11 advantage in kills behind a .429 hitting percentage for the hosts compared to .162 for the visitors.
