Volleyball Starts Conference Play at Davidson

WASHINGTON – George Washington volleyball is set for the opening weekend of Atlantic 10 action, beginning with a visit to Davidson for two matches vs. the Wildcats on Saturday at noon and Sunday at 1 p.m.
NON-CONFERENCE WRAP UP
GW split its pair of matches at the Jefferson Cup Invitational last weekend, falling to Wofford on Friday (3-2) before earning a 3-1 victory over Norfolk State on Saturday. With the win, GW finished with a 3-8 record in non-conference action. Through 11 matches, Brittany Myers leads the offense with 102 kills, while Liv Womble has tallied 95. Kelsey Watkins and Sydney Stewart have been consistent threats at the net, with 34 and 33 blocks, respectively, and have led GW in blocking in all but one match so far this season.
BRITTANY MYERS: HEATING UP
Myers was named to the Jefferson Cup All-Tournament team after recording 30 kills in two matches, earning a season-high 17 vs. Norfolk State. Myers' 30 kills came with just five errors, with the outside hitter averaging a .385 hitting percentage, including a career-best .452% on Saturday.
SCOUTING DAVIDSON
The Wildcats sit third in the A-10 after posting an 8-2 record in non-conference play. Davidson is second in the league with a .242 hitting percentage and leads the A-10, averaging 14.16 kills/set. First-year Elena Garcia-Guerrios was named the Atlantic 10's Co-Player of the Week after recording 30 kills over two matches last weekend, including a pair of double-doubles. Jackie Bardin leads the Wildcats with 115 kills, averaging 3.19 k/s.
