Women’s Soccer Plays Fordham to Scoreless Draw

WASHINGTON - The George Washington women's soccer team finished in a scoreless draw with conference-foe Fordham on Sunday afternoon. The defensive battle saw only seven combined shots on goal over the course of the match.

- The match marked the 21st meeting between the programs. GW holds a slim 8-7-6 advantage over the Rams in the all-time series.
- Both teams finished with an even 16 shots each, while Fordham recorded a 4-3 edge in shots on goal.
- The Buff & Blue attempted three corner kicks on the afternoon, while the Rams were limited to just one.
- Fordham recorded 19 fouls throughout the match, compared to eight for the Revolutionaries.
- First-year Kate McGrath and Fordham's Emily Crocco each received a yellow card in the match.
- Junior Ainsley Lumpe and sophomore Grace Crowe combined for the clean sheet in goal for GW. Lumpe got the start for the Buff & Blue and played the entire first half. Crowe was subbed in at halftime and recorded all four of GW's saves in the second half.
- The match marked GW's third shutout of the season.
- Kyla King notched three saves in net for Fordham to also record a clean sheet for the Rams.
- GW was led by sophomore Aoi Kataoka who tallied five shots on the day including two shots on goal. Junior Kelly Poole took three shots, putting one on target for the Revolutionaries.
- Fordham was paced by Marie Degroote and Tristan McFarlane who each took three shots with one shot on goal.
- GW now sits at 3-3-3 on the year and 0-1-1 in the Atlantic 10. The Buff & Blue currently sit at 10th in the conference standings.
