La Salle Hands Women’s Soccer 3-0 Home Loss

WASHINGTON – The George Washington women's soccer team fell in A-10 action to La Salle on Thursday afternoon. The Explorers picked up a 3-0 win over the Revolutionaries in the third conference match of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Revolutionaries will continue A-10 play on Sunday when they travel to Loyola Chicago for the second meeting all-time between the programs. Match time is set for 2 p.m. against the Ramblers.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- 40th Minute: Following nearly 40 minutes of scoreless action to open the match, Haley Gschrey tallied the first goal of the contest just before halftime. Gschrey's goal is her third of the season and was assisted by Elizabeth Estrada.
- 59th Minute: La Salle got on the scoreboard again midway through the second half off a penalty kick by Alyssa Gargiulo, her first score of the year.
- 84th Minute: Emily Banashefski scored the Explorers' third goal of the day off an assist from Caitlin Donovan. The goal marked Banashefski's second of the season.
- La Salle finished with a commanding 28-9 advantage in shots and an 11-3 edge in shots on goal.
- GW tallied eight total saves on the day, while La Salle finished with three saves.
- The Explorers recorded four corner kicks while holding GW to none throughout the match.
- La Salle tallied 15 fouls on the day including one yellow card, while the Revolutionaries committed 14 fouls and were issued one yellow card as well.
- Ricshya Walker led La Salle's offense with eight total shots on the day including five shots on goal. Sunni DiElmo recorded six shots but was unable to put any on frame for the Explorers.
- GW's offense was paced by junior Kelly Poole who recorded four shots and one shot on goal, while senior Lauren Prentice tallied two shots on goal.
- Junior Ainsley Lumpe started in goal for GW, picking up one save in the first half. Sophomore Grace Crowe was subbed in at halftime for Lumpe and played the rest of the way for the Buff & Blue. Crowe tallied six saves in the second half for the Revolutionaries.
- La Salle's Michela Auguardo played all 90 minutes in goal and registered three saves.
- The loss pushes GW's winless streak to five matches. The Buff & Blue are 0-3-2 in that stretch.
- La Salle extends its winning streak over GW to three straight matches, and the all-time series is now deadlocked at 12-12-1.
