Water Polo Undone by Navy in Regular Season Finale

WASHINGTON - The George Washington water polo team lost to Navy, 19-8, in the regular season finale in Annapolis, Md. on Sunday afternoon. The Revolutionaries concluded the regular season at 11-13 and 5-7 in the MAWPC - good for fifth place in the conference, which will be GW's seeding to begin the MAWPC Championship tournament.
The Buff and Blue fell behind early to the 20th-ranked Midshipmen and struggled to claw back into the game. Navy led 10-4 at halftime, and GW was only able to tack on another four goals in the final two frames as it eventually fell, 19-8.
Viktor Jovanovic provided half of the offense for GW with four goals, while four other Revolutionaries were each responsible for one goal. Andrija Sekulic led GW with four ejections drawn and was credited with GW's lone assist.
The Revolutionaries will shift their focus to the postseason and the MAWPC Championship tournament, which takes place Nov. 17-19 in Lewisburg, Pa.
