Volleyball Falls in Five Sets at Saint Louis

SAINT LOUIS, MO. – The George Washington volleyball team dropped a tight match to Saint Louis on Friday night. The Revolutionaries built a 2-1 lead in the match, but were unable to close it out, falling in five sets to the Billikens.
BY THE NUMBERS
GW's offense was led by junior Salem Yohannes with 18 kills on the night. Yohannes finished with a hitting percentage of .302 and also led the team with 18 digs. Junior Brittany Myers and senior Liv Womble registered 13 kills each for the Buff & Blue. Sophomore Maeve Loughran poured in a team-high 51 assists for the Revolutionaries, while sophomore Sydney Stewart added a team-high seven blocks.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Set one was controlled by Saint Louis who never trailed in the frame. The Billikens managed to build a seven-point lead midway through the set before GW closed the gap to two at 21-19. Despite GW holding the momentum, Saint Louis slammed the door on the comeback bid, taking the set, 25-21.
- The script was flipped in set two with GW controlling the action. The Buff & Blue led by as many as eight and eventually won the frame, 25-20.
- The Buff & Blue captured the third set in clutch fashion. Both teams played back-and-forth and eventually found the score tied at 24-24. GW managed to claim three of the final four points to secure the 27-25 win.
- On their home floor, the Billikens wouldn't be denied, winning the fourth set, 25-20, and the decisive fifth set, 15-8, to secure the victory.
