Annual Buff and Blue Fund Challenge Campaign Raises Record Funds for GW Student-Athletes

The 2023 GW Athletics Buff & Blue Fund Challenge campaign was a tremendous success, with the department raising more than $460,000 - more than double last year's total - from more than 1,700 donors to support GW student-athletes. The total funds raised and total donors are both record numbers for the annual Buff & Blue Fund Challenge campaign. On top of record numbers, more than one-third of the gifts came from alumni student-athletes.
"The GW Athletics community has once again shown up and showcased its incredible commitment and support for our student-athletes," said GW Athletics Director Tanya Vogel. "The success of this year's Buff and Blue Fund Challenge is seen not only in the dollars raised, but also in the massive number of donors. Thank you to each and every person who made a gift to help us Raise High in all that we do!"
The Buff & Blue Fund Challenge was made possible through the philanthropic effort of GW Athletics Advisory Council member and proud alumna Annemargaret Connolly, LAW '88, and her husband Ken Frank, who provided additional funding that will be distributed to the various winning programs.
"Ken and I are thrilled about the success we had in this year's Buff & Blue Fund Challenge, especially the historic number of gifts we received for our teams," said Connolly, LAW '88. "We were honored to once again be part of engaging our Athletics community, and to see the amazing results we were able to achieve together. Raise High!"

It is awesome for our current players to feel so supported and we are so grateful for these gifts to our team as we continue to work together towards our goals this year and beyond!"
