Women’s Basketball Travels to St. Bonaventure for Weekend Tilt

WASHINGTON – With A-10 action beginning to heat up, George Washington women's basketball will travel north to Olean, N.Y. for a Sunday afternoon clash with St. Bonaventure. Tip-off between the Colonials and Bonnies is scheduled for 1 p.m. with live coverage available on ESPN+.
LET'S HIT THE ROAD
Beginning Sunday, GW will dive into its biggest road stretch of the conference slate, with three of their next four games away from the Charles E. Smith Center. In addition to its game at the Bonnies, GDUB will also make stops at La Salle (1/14) and George Mason on MLK Day (1/16), with next Wednesday's home game against Fordham at 12pm the lone chance to catch George Washington at home in the next two-plus weeks.
This season, George Washington is 3-2 away from the Smith Center, including a 1-0 mark in A-10 play, while averaging 66.4 points a game.
MAYOWA'S NATIONAL REBOUND NUMBERS
Currently averaging 8.9 rebounds per game, redshirt senior Mayowa Taiwo is putting up rebounding stats that are among the best in the nation. Entering this weekend, Taiwo currently ranks 41st in the NCAA in total rebounds (133), while also ranking in the top-30 in offensive rebounds per game (3.7) and 61st in the NCAA in rebounding average.
Taiwo, who has already reached the 500 and 600-career rebounding marks this season, is only 75 rebounds away from reaching 700. To date, only 15 other players in program history have recorded 700 career boards.
SCOUTING ST. BONAVENTURE
The Bonnies, who entered the 2022-23 season picked last in the Atlantic 10, enter Sunday's game reeling after losing their sixth-straight game on Thursday night against George Mason, 49-45. Currently, St. Bonaventure is 3-14 on the campaign and is only averaging 52 points a game, which is last in the conference.
Individually, I'yanna Lops will lead the charge for St. Bonaventure. The senior leads the team in both points per game (11.3) and rebounds per game (5.5).
HISTORY AGAINST THE BONNIES
Sunday will be the 50th meeting all-time between George Washington and St. Bonaventure, with GW owning an impressive 40-9 record against their opponent from Olean. Last season, GW took home wins in two out of three games against the Bonnies, including a 54-49 victory over St. Bonaventure in the opening round of the 2022 Atlantic 10 Championship.
