Colonials going for sixth-straight sweep of Hoyas
WASHINGTON - Going for its second dual-meet victory in as many tries, GW swimming and diving is heading up the road for a battle against Georgetown. Hosted at McCarthy Pool, Saturday's dual meet will begin at 9:30 a.m. with diving, followed by swimming at noon. Live results can be found on the Meet Mobile app, and live coverage of the meet can be found here.Â
Johns Hopkins Recap
GW got its spring schedule underway last weekend with a dual-meet victory over Johns Hopkins, 158-102 (men's) and 173-87 (women's), on Senior Day at the Smith Center. GW won 20 out of 28 swimming events, which included five podium sweeps.Â
Following the Johns Hopkins meet, Philip Moldovanu, Daniel Nagy and Ava Topolewski were selected for A-10 Swimming and Diving weekly awards.
History Against the Hoyas
GW is heading into Saturday's meet boasting a five-meet win streak against Georgetown. The last time Hoyas won on either the men's or women's side was the 2015-16 season, when the Buff and Blue women were taken down, 117-181. Last season, the Colonials ousted the Hoyas at home by a final score of 159-141 (men's) and 165-127 (women's).
Scouting Georgetown
Georgetown is entering Saturday's dual meet on the tails of a successful fall. The Hoya men, who are the reigning Big East Champions, are 5-0 in head-to-head scoring meets this season, with wins over American, Fordham, Howard, NJIT and Villanova. On the other side, the Georgetown women are 3-2 in head-to-head scoring meets, having beaten Howard, American and Villanova, but not finding the same success against UConn and Fordham. The Hoyas have not competed as a team since mid-November, but they will host Johns Hopkins on Friday evening before meeting with GW on Saturday.
