Buff and Blue will play Bucknell, Wagner, and Navy on Alumni and Families Weekend
WASHINGTON - #19(T) GW water polo will look to continue on its historical run as it returns to the Charles E. Smith Center for the first time this season. The Buff and Blue have won 10 games in a row, the longest unbeaten streak on record for GW. The Colonials' streak will be tested this weekend against a trio of conference rivals, as GW faces off against Bucknell (2 p.m.) and Wagner (7 p.m.) on Saturday, and Navy (10 a.m.) on Sunday.
Last Time Out:
GW is coming off a 4-0 performance at the CWPA Crossover Weekend, which extended the Colonials' win streak to a program-record 10 games. The Colonials took home wins over McKendree (17-7), Mercyhurst (22-6), Gannon (19-10), and Salem (23-9). Theodoros Pateros led the way for the Buff and Blue with 24 goals, while Luca Castorina made 49 saves with a .605 save percentage. First-year Michael Wheeler had 12 steals, and junior Ford Bruggen made 11 field blocks in the Colonials' dominance last weekend.
Scouting The Competition:
Bucknell: The Bison enter the weekend owning a 9-6 record and on a six-game unbeaten streak of its own. Bucknell had success at the CWPA Crossover Weekend winning all four of its games against the same competition GW saw. Two of the Bison's losses this season came as the result of forfeits.
Navy: The Navy Midshipmen are 6-6 this season, having just beaten conference opponent Mount St. Mary's. Five of Navy's six losses this year have come to ranked opponents, with its lone unranked loss coming to Air Force in overtime. Goalkeeper Caden Capobianco has a .477 save percentage this season, and will likely get the start in net for Navy.
