Buff and Blue sweep the competition in second consecutive outing
ERIE, PA - In its first outing since a perfect 3-0 weekend at the Princeton Invitational, GW water polo goes undefeated again, winning all four games at the CWPA Crossover Weekend, and extending its win streak to 10 games. The Colonials are now 10-1 on the season, not having dropped a game since the season-opening loss against #11 Princeton. The 10-game win streak is the longest on record for GW water polo, dating back to 1999.

GW 17, McKendree 7: GW opened the weekend with a 10-goal victory over McKendree. The game was a tail of two halves. McKendree struck first, and kept the game close throughout the first half. The teams went into halftime tied at six, but GW would gain separation quickly, shutting out the Bearcats in the third quarter and riding an 11-1 second half advantage to a victory.
GW 22, Mercyhurst 6: GW's second game started much like the first, a tightly contested battle early on. The game was tied after one quarter, and Mercyhurst took an early 4-3 lead in the second quarter, but a 6-0 GW run before the half would give the Colonials a 10-5 lead at the break. This one was all GW in the second half, outscoring Mercyhurst 12-1 after halftime.
GW 19, Gannon 10: The Buff and Blue hopped on Gannon early, finishing the first quarter, up 5-1, and going into halftime with a 9-4 advantage. GW extended its lead early in the second half, but a 3-0 Gannon run would bring them back within six. The Colonials weathered the storm, answering with a pair of its own, and would lead by no less than eight for the entirety of the fourth quarter.
GW 23, Salem 9: Another slow start found GW behind the eight ball, trailing 3-2 against Salem midway through the first quarter. The Colonials regrouped quickly, scoring three times in quick succession, and led 5-3 after the first quarter. It was all GW from that point on. Seven second-quarter goals gave GW a 12-3 advantage at halftime, and the Colonials rode a comfortable second-half lead to a 23-9 victory.
