Ramblers hand Buff and Blue second loss of the season
WASHINGTON - GW women's soccer (3-2-5, 0-2-2) fell to Loyola Chicago (6-3-2, 2-1), 3-0, in the first meeting between the programs. Each team had its fair share of opportunities in this one, but it was Loyola who was able to convert on its scoring chances. GW falls for the second straight game after starting the season on an eight-game unbeaten streak.
How It Happened:
7th Minute: Megan Nemec opened the scoring in the 7th minute, converting on a fast break opportunity. The Ramblers had just gained possession in its back end, and quickly were able to find forward Sarah Noonan streaking down field. Noonan connected with Nemec on a cross, and Nemec was able to finish for her fourth goal of the season. Noonan was credited with an assist on the Ramblers' first goal.
38th Minute: Loyola's second goal came off a corner kick. Jaimee Cibulka found the end of an Emily Roberts' driven corner for her first goal of the year.
79th Minute: Amanda Cassidy netted the third goal for the Ramblers as she tapped in a cross sent through the box. Nemec and Cibulka were each credited with assists on Cassidy's third goal of the year.
Noteworthy:
The Buff and Blue return to action on Thursday, traveling to Dayton, OH to face conference foe Dayton. Kickoff at Boujan Field is at 7 P.M. and the game will be aired live on ESPN+.
