Divers wrapped up season at NCAA qualifying meet Tuesday
ANNAPOLIS, Md. - GW divers Spencer Bystrom and Jamie Doak wrapped up their season at the NCAA Zone A Championships on Tuesday afternoon at Navy's Lejeune Hall.
Bystrom placed 29th out of 43 competitors in the men's 1-meter competition with a score of 253.85, while Doak was 51st out of 60 on the women's 3-meter board with a score of 221.50.
Both divers advanced to the NCAA qualifying meet for the first time and posted solid debuts on the regional stage to cap strong junior campaigns.
Bystrom set personal bests on both 1-meter (300.70) and 3-meter (325.85) this season and medaled on both boards at the A-10 Championships as part of the men's dominant run to a repeat title.
Doak set the program record on 1-meter (279.23) in November at Pittsburgh and qualified for Zones on the 3-meter board at Georgetown with a season-high score of 282.98. The Chagrin Falls, Ohio, native placed fourth on both boards at the A-10 Championships to help the women earn their second team crown in three years.
It was the fifth time in the past six seasons that the program has been represented at the Zone meet and fourth instance in that run with multiple entrants.
